GARY Megson is on the hunt to boost his attacking options following the departure for El-Hadji Diouf.

The Wanderers boss is targeting another striker, with £4million-rated Israel international Elyaniv Barda said to be in his sights. The Racing Genk star, who scored 16 goals in 32 appearances in the Belgian League last season, has also attracted the interest of German side Borussia Dortmund.

Barda is perhaps best known on these shores for keeping England’s Euro 2008 qualification hopes alive with a goal in Israel’s victory over Russia, only for Steve McClaren’s side to fail to live up to their end of the bargain with defeat against Croatia.

Megson’s warchest was boosted with Diouf’s £2.5m departure to Sunderland on Monday and, although he has a ready-made replacement in Dutch winger Riga, he still hopes to make one more significant signing this summer.

Wanderers’ efforts to sign Reading’s James Harper have reached an impasse, but the club have not given up on convincing Steve Coppell to let his prized midfielder leave the Madejski Stadium.

The Royals had rejected a rumoured offer of around £3m earlier this month but now, with cash from Diouf’s exit, Megson could be tempted into making a second offer.

Wanderers may well be rivalled once again by Middlesborough, who had also made an unsuccessful approach for Harper but now have extra money to spend, and a gap in their midfield ranks, after the £3.5m departure of youngster Lee Cattermole to Wigan Athletic.

same old story, sell first then struggle to replace, when will they ever learn! bring in new recruits first, look what happened when Anelka left, the goals dried up and who did we get in, cant even remember his name and dont want to, Rasicrap i think!!!

Pennant or Benayoun from Liverpool would offer some adventure going forward, perhaps Bullard as all-round midfelder with good set piece ability.

James Beatie is another possibility - Beattie, Davies, Elmander up front - not for faint hearted defenders we can always beat the opposition to surrender if we can't score!!

16 days to the big kick off with a tour of Greece to come, Diouf sold and nothing on the horizon.Muamba aside Megson has signed dross this summer so he will no doubt be scouring League 1 for a replacement.
Its going to be a tough transfer window for the new manager in January.

Megson is spending a fortune recruiting lower division mediocrity. He can't attract anyone decent. Sack him while there's still time. There will be no point re-appointing Allardyce in September when he can't sign any new players.

Give Megson a break. Steinsen, Cahill, Taylor, Muamba are all solid signings. I haven't seen enough of Elmander to pass judgement, but if the stories are true, then he too will be one to watch.

How can you complain before the first ball is even kicked? And finally, please don't let big Kev go to Hull. He's simply too good for that.

Phil Brown is a canny fella and knows the players he is taking to Hull from his days at Bolton when the Wanderers were on the up. As usual BWFC are trying to cut their wage bill to the core. How long will it be before Megson is bleating that injuries have decimated his small squad that he couldn't boost because players of the right calibre were over priced or unavailable? Truth is anyone who has had any dealings with him in the past won't come to the Reebok eg Jason Roberts. He only likes "yes" men -those who lick his shoes and boost him up in the local press. (I wonder who that could be then?
