LEIGH Centurions chairman, Arthur Thomas, has assured supporters that the club still has a bright future despite losing out on their Super League licence application.

As the Centurions prepare for three years of life in the National Leagues, the chairman points to the National League One outfit’s impending move to their new stadium as the springboard for success in the future.

During the close-season, the Centurions will relocate to their new 12,300-capacity stadium at the Leigh Sports Village, which, according to Thomas, will enable the club to move from strength to strength.

“The move to the Leigh Sports Village is a really exciting time for the club and our supporters,” he said.

“We truly believe that our new facilities are the best the National Leagues have to offer, and this will enable our club to greatly increase our fan-base and further increase our work in the local community.

“We are an ambitious club and naturally we would have loved the new stadium to showcase Leigh in Super League.

“But the Co-operative National League One is a fantastically competitive competition and the standard is getting better each year.

“We are positively looking forward to the next three years.

“We are sure the Leigh public will support the club now and in the future, as we say goodbye to Hilton Park in a few weeks before making the short journey to our new stadium. Our new home.”
