WANDERERS (3-1-4-2).

NATHAN BAXTER…6.

Picked the ball out of his net twice but barely had another shot on target to worry about from the visitors.

WILL FORRESTER…5.

Difficult to come in from the cold again and looked rusty on the ball. Also seemed to struggle with his footing.

EOIN TOAL…5.

Things did not go according to plan for the stand-in skipper whose defending is normally a lot tighter than this. Bad night at the office.

JACK IREDALE…5.5.

Nearly won it at the death with a shot that bounced off the outside of the post – otherwise as shaky as the rest of the back three.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Thomason was desperately unlucky with one screaming effort and scrapped as well as anyone in the middle of the park. Team loses something with him playing deeper.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…6.

Always seemed to be available on the right side, offering width, and a decent number of his crosses hit the mark.

KYLE DEMPSEY…6.

Been such a fragmented season for him – and it told in the first half. Came out a different player after the break and it was a surprise to see him taken off.

PARIS MAGHOMA…8.5.

A class above anyone on the pitch. Took his goal superbly and seemed to be playing against Shrewsbury on his own at times.

NAT OGBETA…5.5.

Can be such an effective weapon but caught in possession a few times, which left Bolton pedalling backwards. And that miss…

CAMERON JEROME…7.

Deserved his goal, might have got another. One of Bolton’s most effective players on the night.

AARON COLLINS…6.

Ran the show early on and linked up quite well with Jerome. Dropped into the number 10 role for the last 20 minutes and hardly got a kick.

Subs: Charles 5, 66 (for Jerome), Williams 76 (for Ogbeta)

Not used: Coleman, Sheehan, Nlundulu, Morley, Taylor.

MAN OF THE MATCH – Paris Maghoma.

We’re all scratching around for positives at the moment, and his recent form is one of the prime examples. Shrewsbury couldn’t live with him, and few teams at this level have managed to in this type of mood.

MOAN OF THE MATCHWanderers allowed Jordan Shipley acres of space at the edge of the box despite him having hit an identical effort just a couple of weeks ago. Sloppy defending really has to stop.

MAGIC MOMENT – Maghoma’s finish for the second goal was a touch of class on a night where it all felt scrappy and frantic. Here’s hoping he can keep up that form going into the play-offs.

Shrewsbury (3-4-1-2): Marosi; Feeney, Dunkley, Anderson; Sobowale, Bennett, Winchester, Benning; Shipley; Bloxham, Udoh.

Subs: O’Brien 88 (for Shipley), Perry 88 (for Udoh) Not used: Burgoyne, Sraha, Hinchy, Perry, Price, Bayliss, O’Brien.

Referee: Scott Oldham 5/10 – Never came close to stemming Shrewsbury’s timewasting tactics and then doubled down by offering next to no added time. Really looked reluctant to make a decisive call at times.
