Police say they have arrested a man "well known to them" who was carrying a "large amount of cash", suspected class A drugs, and a burner phone.

Police officers from Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Bolton North neighbourhood team stopped and searched the man, who was seen driving on Merehall Drive, Halliwell.

Officers found "approximately 95 wraps of suspected Class A drugs" inside a bag belonging to the man.

Following further investigation, officers say they seized two weapons, scales, a mobile device, and more cash.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and for driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

He remains in custody for questioning, according to GMP.
